Myths About SwitzerlandSwitzerland has changed over the years and so have the cliches. Here we dispel some of those myths. 20 years ago Switzerland was expensive. With the more recent (we mean the last decade) changes - European Union and the move by most countries to the Euro - the value of the Swiss currency has change such that you'll find holidaying in Switzerland a more viable option. The exchange rate now hovers around AUD1 = CHF0.95 which is far more reasonable than travelling on the Euro at around AUD1 = EUR 0.59. Of course, if you head to expensive resorts anywhere in the world you will pay more. Swiss Trip selected resorts are generally popular with the local Swiss and not so well promoted to overseas guests and don't come with the obscene price tag for living expenses. Well, not really writing this to dispel a myth, more to confirm it. Swiss Trains are clean, quiet, warm and on time - It's the best way to get around, hands down! We describe the Swiss as organised Australians. In the Valais region, where Swiss Trip offers ski holidays, the population is more or less half Swiss French and half Swiss German. Anywhere you go in this region you'll find them enthusiastic about their village and more then willing to help you get the most out of your stay. Can you handle it... Valais is famous for their cheese, and as you know, all of Switzerland is famous for their chocolate. All restaurants in Valais have the local cheeses on the menu. Our favourite place to try what is know as the 'cheeses of the five valleys', is Chateau d'Ville. The restaurant is located in the town of Sierre. Just contact us while on holiday and we'll show you how to get there - It's worth it. Back on the subject of chocolate - you can get it anywhere and in any form. |
