YOUR DAY
On this unforgettable journey you'll start the day early in the morning. Travel through the heart of the mountains to Goppenstein, Kandersteg and on to Grindelwald - this is where the amazing trip to Europe's highest altitude railway station (3454 m) begins. The unique round-trip by modern cogwheel railway first takes you to Kleine Scheidegg, altitude 2061 m, at the foot of the notorious Eiger North Wall. From here the Jungfrau Railway climbs to the Eigergletscher station, well known for its mountain restaurant and polar dog kennels. The trip continues through the Eiger tunnel, to the Eigerwand and Eismeer stations, with a five minute halt at each station. Enjoy some spectacular sightseeing through large observation windows, hewn from solid Alpine rock. And then the arrival on the Jungfraujoch, in the heart of a glorious glacier world on the very roof of Europe! Take your time to explore the area and for those who have worked up an appetite choose from a wide variety of European and Asian cuisines at any of the self-service or à la carte restaurants before taking the train journey back down to Grindelwald. Time permitting, head into and explore the town of Interlaken.

ABOUT THE AREA
The panorama from the viewing plateau of the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe is unique, grandiose, breathtaking and almost indescribable. To the north, on a clear day you can see as far as the French Vosges and the Black Forest in Germany. To the south lies the awe-inspiring Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest ice stream in the Alps. Its glacier melt flows into the Mediterranean. Mighty ice masses lie under the plateau, the watershed of Europe. These move slowly northwards, with their melt flowing into the North Sea. They provide the space for the unique Ice Palace.
